Focused on helping families understand how a child learns, thinks, and functions best

A neuropsychologist specializes in the effects of atypical development, injury, disease, and other brain-based conditions on learning, behavior, and development. Dr. Barnard's role is to bring those pieces together and translate them into useful recommendations.

She then completed internship and postdoctoral training in pediatric neuropsychology at the University of Illinois Medical Center, pursued specialty training in autism assessment, later founded the Developmental Neuropsychology Clinic at Cincinnati Children's, and returned to Texas in independent practice.
