During the initial appointment, which is for parents or adult patients only (children do not need to be present at this appointment), Dr. Barnard will address any concerns regarding the patient and to determine the nature and length of testing. This essential step helps Dr. Barnard provide you and/or your loved one with a personalized, streamlined, and positive assessment experience, and serves to:
Dr. Barnard will customize a testing battery for the patient that is designed to answer the questions/concerns identified in the Diagnostic Interview. Most evaluations last up to the length of a school day (with an included lunch break), and the patient and their family should expect to spend the day at Dr. Barnard's office. Testing is completed by Dr. Barnard herself.
Once testing is complete, all measures will be scored and analyzed by Dr. Barnard, and a report will be generated that includes (but is not limited to) relevant medical and developmental history, previous testing, behavioral observations, teacher interviews, test results, diagnoses, and recommendations to help the patient reach their goals.
The Feedback Session is an opportunity for Dr. Barnard to meet with the family and go over the evaluation process, as well as observations, results, and diagnoses (if applicable). Dr. Barnard will also discuss recommendations, referrals, resources, and provide you with a final copy of the report and will be available to consult with the family about questions regarding their evaluation after the process is complete.
